Wrestlemania 27 Aftermath

So last Sunday was Wrestlemania 27. As you saw earlier my previous post and predictions for Wrestlemania, below are the results and just a sentence or two about my opinion of the match

Match #1 – World Championship: Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio
My Prediction: Alberto Del Rio
Actual Winner: Edge
This match was pretty good and a solid opener for Wrestlemania. There was more than one occasion where I was sure Alberto Del Rio was winning the title. I was also pretty sure that Christian was turning on Edge at the event. Neither happened and Edge pinned Del Rio following a spear to keep the championship.

Match #2 – Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Cody Rhodes
My Prediction: Cody Rhodes
Actual Winner: Cody Rhodes
I really enjoyed this match a lot. Apparently they are turning Cody Rhodes into a darker character and it felt like this may have been his coming out party. Spot of the match was Cody Rhodes holding Rey Mysterio Jr up on the top rope for maybe close to 30 seconds to do a superplex. It was a move that was pretty cool to see.

Match #3 – Big Show, Kane, Santino Marella, and Kofi Kingston vs. The Corre
My Prediction: The Corre
Actual Winner: Big Show, Kane, Santino Marella, and Kofi Kingston
This was a really short match. Big Show punched someone in the head to get the win. Not much more to tell

Match #4 – Randy Orton vs. CM Punk
My Prediction: CM Punk
Actual Winner: Randy Orton
This was my personal favorite match of the night. It was a lot of fun watching what felt to me like an old school match of CM Punk working on the hurt leg of Randy Orton. The finish came almost out of no where when Randy Orton hit the RKO while CM Punk had jumped off the top rope.

In between match 4 and match 5 the WWE introduced their 2011 Hall of Fame class that included Shawn Michaels, Jim Duggan, The Road Warriors, Sunny, Abdullah the Butcher, “Bullet” Bob Armstrong, and Drew Carey

Match #5 – Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole
My Prediction: Jerry Lawler
Actual Winner: Michael Cole
This felt like a tale of two matches. When Jerry Lawler was beating on Michael Cole it was a fun match. When Jack Swagger interfered and Michael Cole was on the offense it was boring. If they could have cut maybe about 3 or 4 minutes (all of Michael Cole on offense) out of the match it would have been perfect. Michael Cole ended up winning when the mystery Raw GM reversed the decision and declared Michael Cole wins by DQ.

Match #6 – Undertaker vs. HHH
My Prediction: Undertaker
Actual Winner: Undertaker
A lot of people think this was the match of the night. One of my friends I watched the show with thought HHH had injured himself during the beginning of the match. Once I got out of the mind set that this match was going to be like the HBK vs. Undertaker matches it was a fun brawl. Truthfully, I enjoyed their match at Wrestlemania XVII better but after a slow start it definitely pick up towards the end.

Match #7 – John Morrison, Trish Stratus, & Snookie vs. Dolph Ziggler & Lay-Cool
My Prediction: John Morrison, Trish Stratus, & Snookie
Actual Winner: John Morrison, Trish Stratus, & Snookie
This match was short and didn’t bother me at all. Snookie was booed out of the building at first but did some acrobatic stuff and pinned one of the members of Lay-Cool.

Match #8 – WWE Championship: John Cena vs. The Miz
My Prediction: John Cena
Actual Winner: The Miz
Well this match was a disappointment. The video package with the Miz was incredible, and I loved that the Atlanta fans booed the church choir that played before John Cena came out. The match was really a huge disappointment. Originally both wrestlers were counted out, when the Rock came down and restarted the match he Rock Bottomed John Cena and Miz was able to pick up the win.

So overall it was an okay show. My personal favorite match was the Randy Orton vs. CM Punk match. I was disappointed they didn’t have the Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan match on the Pay Per View. I do like the fact that the Miz is still the champion and I hope he holds on to the title until next year. I would probbaly put this show somewhere in the middle of the pack.

Now before I close out I read an article the other day the predicted next years Wrestlemania matches. I thought that looked fun so here are 8 matches I am predicting for Wrestlemana 28, and the Hall Of Fame.

Now this is getting weird

So my blog entry from Sunday, March 27, 2011, that you can read “HERE.”, talks about how creepy the e-mail I received from the Mitt Romney Campaign. I just assumed this was some sort of form e-mail, that maybe he got my information from the census or something along those lines.

Well things got even weirder after that.

On Friday April 1, 2011 I received another just as creepy e-mail from Mitt Romney camp. This time with even more personal information that. Due to it being April fools day already I just assumed that someone is playing a joke. As a matter of fact I still do. However, I did respond to the e-mail.

Below you can see my response and the second e-mail to Mitt Romney.

Now I believe this is a joke. So I am playing along for the time being.

Yes I did support Mitt Romney in 2008. But I didn’t even donate to him. By the time the primary election came around he had already dropped out of the race and it was clear that John McCain was going to be the Republican Nominee. I ended up voting for Mike Huckabee in the primary, not because I wanted Mike Huckabee to be President, but because I did not want John McCain to think I would vote for him no matter what. I know that sounds silly but that was my logic.

As of right now I am not sure who I am supporting. It very well may be Mitt Romney. However the only person to announce they have formed an exploratory committee has been the Governor of Minnesota Tim Pawlenty.

So back to the e-mail from Mitt;

A close friend of mine, who is a libertarian and a BIG Ron Paul supporter asked for my permission to post the letter on facebook and there were some interesting comments to the post.

I am assuming she is extended the same courtesy has been given to me to report the message thread regarding my Mitt Romney e-mails. I have deleted names to protect the innocent and to save some space I did not report the original e-mails.

• My friend – Posted Letter #1
• My friend –Posted Letter #2
• My friend –This goes well beyond personalization. This is borderline stalking. Romney obviously does not value privacy. He'll be the first to get us RFID chipped with a nat'l ID!! This is SCARY. Everything said in these letters was specific to my friend and his life. His children are under 5yrs old. There's no way they should know his children's names. This is a complete invasion of privacy!!
• Friends Friend #1 – Voter Vault knows everything
• Friends Friend #2 – Voter Vault?
• Friends Friend #1 – Voter Vault is the system the RNC/GOP etc uses to identify likely Republican voters. These guys buy lists from everyone to determine this. A high ranking Republican official told me that they even buy lists from grocery stores (you know those key-chain discount cards they try to get everyone to use) so that they can tell if you drink alcohol or not. It's data mining at it's best
• Friends Friend #3 – They have access to birth, death, school records pretty much anything they want.
• My Friend – They might have access to them, but it's quite another thing to use them. I can look up anyone right here and now (cbcs, personal records) and know pretty much everything about them on paper, but I am not going to use that info against them. This is stalking.
• Friends Friend #3 – You can certainly make a strong case for it
• Friends Friend #4 – This is beyond disgusting! Everyone needs to be made aware of this creepery, whatever it takes! I don't see how anyone can see this and then think that this is the kind of person they want as president. If he'll go to these levels as not even a candidate, what would he do in office? He has no decency, this is too Big Brother-ish for me!
• Friends Friend #5 – That's weird. Though since your friend supported him in 2008, I wonder if he had given them that information earlier... What (Friends Friend #1) said about buying lists is right. I signed up with GOA a few years back...so on Voter... Vault they have both me and my mother listed as being interested in the 2nd amendment. My brother had a cell phone number briefly (a week or two) when we first signed up for Verizon and they had that number listed with our information.

I agree that if this is not a joke someone is playing on me than it is extremely creepy. However, I am not sure I would use the word stalker. I think Mitt Romney would have to specifically know me and everything about me himself. Right now, if this is true, I would say he probably has a data base of his 2008 supporters and merged it with another list and this is how he found out my information. I am curious to see if I get a response. But either way it is amazing/scary at how much information is out there.

If you don’t like that one how about this theme song

This is one of my favorite days of the year.

I make no secret that I was a very big wrestling fan. I know this will not be the last post I have about Wrestlemania.

To take you back in time to the late 1980’s my parents were adamant that I could not watch wrestling. I am pretty sure this was my mom who did not want me to be introduced to the violence. Little did she know by not letting me watch made me want to watch more. I tried to sneak it in a few times but really I never watched any of it. Then one day my dad caught me reading the wrestling magazine at the local Giant. I told him I don’t watch and even proudly said “I know Andre the Giant is the champion! (It was actually Hulk Hogan). But after this conversation my parents agreed to let me watch one wrestling show a week. So my loop hole was that I recorded the show and then watched it over and over again. That one show turned into me becoming the biggest wrestling fan out there. I would rent videos, read the magazines, and watch whatever I could that was connected to wrestling.

So it was now 1990. It was time for my first Wrestlemania. I was so pumped for it. The Main Event was the WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan vs. the WWF Intercontinental Champion The Ultimate Warrior. Title vs Title… The Ultimate Challenge

So here I was ready for Wrestlemania VI – When my parents grounded me and I could not go. I was heartbroken. I remember my best friend Matt calling me and shouting in the phone the Brutus the Barber Beefcake beat the undefeated Mr. Perfect (funny thing today I would be upset about that result). I remember being crushed when Matt called me to tell me the Ultimate Warrior just beat my favorite wrestler Hulk Hogan. The next day at school I told everyone that I was a Warrior fan and I knew he was going to win…. My sister called me out on that.

So now the year is 1992. Wrestlemania VII. A retirement match between the Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage plus Hulk Hogan was fighting for America against the evil Iraq turncoat Sgt. Slaughter.

Wrestlemania 7 saw the birth of the Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak where he beat Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Hogan regained the WWF World Title, and the match/moment of the night was the Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage in a career match.

WWE Wrestlemania 7 - Randy Savage vs... by Joe81425

And of course I was grounded so I did not get to see Wrestlemania 7. However, I did have an ace up my sleeve that year. The Pay Per View Channels had audio but squiggly lines. And that is how I watched Wrestlemania 7.

Ahhh…. My first live Wrestlemania, I went over Matt’s house as he had a bunch of us nerds over for this show. This show included the famous 4 out of 7 falls backyard wrestling match that saw me beat Matt 4 falls to 0. After the match Matt became sad and depressed afterwards and truthfully I felt horrible my best friend was that upset. So I took pity on Matt and told him that fine I forfeit the match. Then in typical Matt fashion, he then ran around his backyard like an idiot proclaiming how he beat me. This was also the Wrestlemania I introduced Matt to Steak and Onion Potato chips. As weird as they sound they became his favorite chips of all time. His second favorite… Hotdog and mustard.

I will spare you from me going year by year at Wrestlemania.

So at Wrestlemania XVI I consider this the first official Wrestlemania day amongst me and my friends. We were all over Buzz apartment at the greens at 12 noon, ordered food and watched wrestling all day long. Two years later when I was out of college the core of us, Richard, Buzz, Runt and myself started making an event out of this. Other people were over but in the end we committed a deadly sin of gluttony. I think we went through something like 17 pizzas. It was disgusting and something we are all very proud of today. Over the years the event has evolved. We have moved the event from place to place but it looks like it has found a home at Tony’s house. We now have a core group of guys, Tony, Richard, Buzz, Matt, Runt, and Lunchbox we play poker watch wrestling and get fat.

So today is the day we are going to Tony for our Wrestlemania Day!!!!

I don’t watch wrestling very often, if something big happens I try to find it on you tube, but I never set the time aside like I used to, to watch Raw and Smackdown. I try to watch a little more this time of year so I at least know what is going on.

Here are my predictions for tonight’s card. I will bold the winners

1) United States Title Match: Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan
2) Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole
3) Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Cody Rhodes
4) Big Show, Kane, Santino Marella, and Vladimr Kozlov vs. The Corre5) John Morrison, Snookie, and Trish Stratus vs. Dolph Ziggler & Lay-Cool
6) Randy Orton vs. CM Punk
7) World Championship: Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio
8) Undertaker vs. HHH
9) WWE Championship: John Cena vs. The Miz
